I hate to give 2 star reviews especially when the service is good, but the food is just that bad. I purchased 3 of the Groupons thinking I'd eventually use them. Wasted money. I know not much can be expected from a fast food chain, but the burger, fries, onion rings and even the banana shake were all wack. My shake was warm, I'm guessing the machine wasn't working properly. With options like Culver's, Schoops and even Wendy's each within 7 mins away...don't waste your cash.

Go during happy hour 2-4pm for half priced drinks! I really only go here for the drinks. You can get any type of flavor drink/shake/malt you so desire pretty much. The food is bleh.. It's decent for road trips or if you're in the mood for fast food, not the best but definitely not the worst. fyi- pulling into a drive in space is most of the time a lot faster than the drive through.

First time really eating at a Sonic. Slushes were on the spot with real strawberries, lemons, and pineapples in the drinks we ordered! Unfortunately, that's about all that was good and the service was fine. The food in which we ordered and ate was so blah-blah! I love tater tots and usually chili cheese fries, so I tried the chili cheese tots. Only good thing was that they were hot but bland and lacked any flavor from the chili! Spicy chicken nuggets were hot but dry as the Sahara! If not for the decent service and cold slushes, this would be a zero...especially, after the long wait for the food!

I ordered my food and was driving to the window to pay. I did not know the person outside had my ordered she did not say anything, nor did she come to my car. I noticed she went back in with the food. She came back out I asked is that my order. I told her I was sorry because I did not know she had my order she said that's ok. I ordered two shakes the lid was not on one of the shakes. It spilled and I told the lady that gave me my order, the lib was not on so it spilled. She asked did I want napkins, not another shake.

After driving a half hour to satisfy a pregnancy craving, I threw up in the parking lot because my milkshake was sour. Manager was condescending when informed both my shake and my friend's tasted like rotten milk. Very very disappointed, never again.

First time here, and I had a double bacon cheeseburger meal #3. I want a heart attack later this evening (kidding). I didn't think the menu was that confusing. Picking out a drink was the hardest part because they all look good!! I settled on a cherry lime slush. The picture for the #3 shows tater tots, so I thought that was what I was getting. I opened the bag to see fries and the lady disappeared to go get me more ketchup. I pulled the burger out if the bottom of the bag and knocked out the fries. I asked the waitress about not getting tots and she said that all orders come with fries. Crap! I wanted tots!! She asked me if I had dumped the fries in the bag and I said I did. She told me she couldn't take them back if I had dumped them in the bag. What?!?! Weird. What difference does that make? Usually they would throw those away right?!?! Anyway, she was nice about it and said most Chicagoans eat fries but I said, "well go figure, I'm from Indiana!" Tots are different, fun! She gave me a small tot so that was nice. My burger was pretty tasty and better than most fast food burgers I have had. The burger patties were a little skinny but it was still good.

First Tim here. I ordered the chili cheese dog with homemade onion rings. I did not enjoy the chili cheese dog at all. It was way too salty; I couldn't finish eating it. The onion ring were fried a little hard for me, but the taste was very good. Overall, it was a decent experience. I would return for dessert.

I was introduced to Sonic when I was an undergrad 10 years ago in the not so great state of Arkansas. It was a really popular chain with very basic, almost subpar food and awesome shakes and icee style drinks. Over the past few years I have seen Sonic commercials as there weren't any Sonic locations nearby. Well that has changed over the past 1+ years and this one is close to mom. I have not eaten @ Sonic since I graduated college in almost 10 years ago, but we drove past the other day and I had to make a stop. They still have the drive in booths an d the girls still cannot hear through the intercom...LOL. Everyone else in the car got food except me, so I cannot speak on the food, but I did get my old favorite: The Cherry Limeade and that is still really good. If you dont come for the food...the drinks are will be a good reason to check Sonic out. Ocean Water is good as well, by the way

My first experience is when It was like 5 or 6 days old wasn't that good the grilled cheese was horrible and the shake tasted ok also the woman that answered sounded like she did nog want the job But all the other experience have been great! My favorite slushie is orange add lemon it's so good!!!!! For my meal I get orange slushie add lemon, hot dog and mozzarella sticks it's really good the lines are sometimes slow but I still like it I love how they roller skate to your car or truck and I love how they bought a sonic near me I was waiting for these now all we need over here is a red lobster so I don't have to go all the way to Indiana

I'm a HUGE fan of the FRESH LIME SLUSH! I don't order food here, so I'm no help there. They have 1/2 Price Drink Happy Hour. I think it is form 3-5 daily. It is a huge savings.

My family isn't really a huge fan of the place, and my mom flat out refuses to go. I became a fan of the drive-in on the west coast, so it's really a surprise that they decided to add a location in Calumet City a year or so ago. It's a fairly busy Sonic at peak hours, but I've seen others that always seemed to be packed. People get into all sorts of vehicle altercations to snag a coveted spot. For the first-timer, I know the menu can be a little bit confusing. This is also a place to treat yourself after working hard and eating healthy all week. I wouldn't recommend Sonic as your daily source of nutrition. The burger with bacon and onion rings is an instant heart attack. The coneys aren't much better in the health department. What I really like about Sonic is how you can take your time (unless your friends/family pressure you) and enjoy your meal without strangers looking you up and down. Of course, if you feel like someone is staring at you from their car and you still can't eat in peace, perhaps it's time to consult a doctor about your MSG intake. This is a nice throwback to the past, and current fast food chains are really starting to bore me. There are always great deals at Sonic. I'd recommend trying out a slush just to say you had one. The grape is a personal favorite. There are endless combinations of appetizers, sandwiches and other meal items to mix and match. The service isn't the friendliest I've ever had at a Sonic, but this is the Calumet City location...beggars can't be choosers.

I ordered the foot long coney with chili and cheese on it. It was way too salty for my taste. The taters with chili and cheese on top were okay. The taters had some crisp left in them after being drenched in chili and cheese thanks to Steve. I was not very satisfied with the food. I probably wouldn't go back unless I was somewhere and saw one of these. And only because I rarely go to where one is located.

Only a few months old and business here seems successful. On the other hand, next time I'd rather skip it. It was my first time here and right away I wasn't feeling it the menu is a little confusing, because it's all jammed on one board then you have to order your food via a speaker. That being said, you can't really hear the employee taking your order and I'm sure the employee can't really hear you. I became frustrated when my boi and my cousin pressured me to order fast, later I noticed other customers became frustrated with the menu, as well. Even though I'm used to eating in the car (sometimes eating while driving) I find drive-ins very uncomfortable. This place is all about Drive-in or Drive-thru (of course!) with a few tables and benches (useful if summer was still around) the food is good, but seriously nothing out of the ordinary. The roller-skate waitresses (carhop) provide fast service. However, one of them refused to split the bill, she just probably felt lazy.

Decent food, great service! The only thing that I was a little saddened by was that card readers on some of the terminals didn't work (like half of them on the west side of the store!)

Sonic-Drive in is a good experience so far. I've have the popcorn chicken which was decent and expected. I also had one of the burgers which was extremely delicious, so fresh and tasty. I would definitely go here again. Burgers are a must try
